Hi Susan! Sounds like you need to make a bowl for yourself with shrimp, and then just give your husband an extra egg in place of the shrimp! haha. Yes, I was surprised to discover how hard Peruvian ingredients are to find. I’m in a big metro area, and I can find *most* things around here. If I had planned ahead a little further, it looks like aji amarillo paste is available on Amazon, but it’s kind of expensive. I would love to go to Peru some day, and you can bet that I’ll be bringing home lots of fun ingredients!

By: Susan https://foxeslovelemons.com/funky-good-rice-shrimp-bowls/#comment-158202 Mon, 05 Jun 2017 20:34:36 +0000 https://foxeslovelemons.com/?p=21499#comment-158202 This is a very intriguing recipe.  I just wish my husband liked shrimp…  He is just not a seafood eater, so I’ll have to figure out something else to substitute.  I bought a Peruvian cookbook after doing a cooking class in Lima, and one of the things I learned is that unfortunately, a lot of Peruvian ingredients aren’t available outside Peru.  As part of that class we went to a huge market in Callao, and the produce there was some of the most amazing I’ve ever seen.  I will not be buying kimchi any time soon (as in I won’t be buying it at all), because when I eat it, I end up feeling like there are critters crawling around on the roof of my mouth, and that sensation is very difficult to get rid of.    I’m grateful that there are other ways to experience umami.
