Make this Starbucks-style Caramel Coffee at home in just minutes! Coffee, milk and caramel come together for this sweet and foamy treat.

A glass mug filled wth creamy caramel coffee and garnished with whipped cream and a skewer of caramel candies.

One look around my kitchen, and you would immediately realize that I’m coffee obsessed. I have two French presses, a cold brewer, a Chemex, a stovetop espresso maker and a Nespesso machine.

While I normally take my coffee with just a splash of milk or almond milk creamer, every once in awhile I like to make something a little fancier.

And from a look around this blog, you’d know that I’m also caramel obsessed (hello, caramel apple mule and caramel apple mug cake). So, it’s only natural that coffee + caramel is one of my love languages.

With this drink, I was going for something reminiscent of a Starbucks caramel brulee latte (similar to the caramel iced coffee I like to make, but hot).

Just like my salted caramel cream cold brew, this drink comes together in just minutes. The recipe as written below makes one serving, although you can double or quadruple the recipe for more servings, as needed, if you’re hosting a brunch buffet or something (don’t forget the sweet potato breakfast casserole!)

Or, make yourself a caramel coffee and my egg muffins recipe for a weekday breakfast on the go!

With layers that look just like candy corn, these Halloween Jello Shots are sure to be a hit with all of the ADULT trick-or-treaters this year!

Halloween Jello shots made with layers of yellow and orange Jello and whipped cream, topped with sprinkles.

Candy Corn Shots: A fun addition to your Halloween!

Don’t say I didn’t warn you: the Halloween food ideas continue this week! So far I’ve done savory things like a Halloween charcuterie board and Halloween salad and sweet things like Halloween dirt cups but I haven’t done any adult drink with alcohol in it yet!

Sure, they’re not as ksophicated as say, a cranberry rosemary cocktail, and Jello shots might make you flashback to college, but even when you’re well past that age, they can still be fun once in awhile!

Plus, my neighborhood has a tradition of giving out candy to the trick-or-treating kids but also adult drinks to the parents accompanying them. I’m willing to bet many other neighborhoods do this, too.

These Halloween Jello shots are perfect to hand out to ADULT trick-or-treaters or to serve at your next adults-only Halloween party. Have the kiddos stick to Halloween cake pops or Halloween cupcakes!

Looking for a light, easy Valentine’s dessert after a decadent meal? These five minute shooters are a simple, fresh and sweet treat!

A Valentine's dessert made in three tall shot glasses, with layers of cake, raspberries, red jam and whipped cream.

When it comes to Valentine’s Day, Jeff and I don’t take it too seriously. We *maybe* get each other cards, if we remember. But if somebody forgets, there’s no hard feelings.

I can’t remember the last time we got each other gifts, although one time Jeff did stop at a flower shop and buy me discounted flowers that WERE LEFT OVER FROM A FUNERAL (true story). Ah, romance.

So it should come as no surprise that we also usually avoid restaurant meals, figuring we can go out to eat (and get better service and not a stupid prix fixe menu) any other day of the year.

We usually just consider the day an excuse to cook something more delicious for dinner than usual, like salmon pasta made with sockeye salmon, or lasagna cottage cheese.

Or sometimes even just a board filled with Valentine’s Day snacks and a couple of rosemary cocktails is all we need for “dinner”.

And if we want something sweet but ridiculously easy, I’ll make something like these Valentine’s dessert shooters.

Caramel Apple Microwave Mug Cake uses basic pantry ingredients to create one perfect portion of a sweet, seasonal dessert. Cooks in 90 seconds!

Textured ceramic mug filled with apple mug cake, topped with whipped cream and caramel.

Mug cakes may have been a social media laughingstock for a little while (something about a sad single girl dessert?) but that’s just silly. Mug cakes are the perfect way to make an impromptu cake for one person (or more!) any night of the week.

There are a ton of varieties of chocolate, vanilla and sprinkle mug cake recipes available online, but not as many seasonal options.

This cake in a mug recipe uses both fresh apple and applesauce to create a fruit-forward fall dessert that cooks in 90 seconds, and gets even better when you top it with caramel.

Why you will love this Microwave Mug Cake

  • This recipe perfectly makes one individual dessert. Or, make two, and use up the entire apple.
  • Uses ingredients that your household probably already has on hand!
  • A delicious seasonal alternative to chocolate mug cakes.

Take a classic dessert to the next level with this Caramelized Banana Split recipe. With simple directions to caramelize bananas in the oven, this treat is easy enough for a weeknight.

Small oblong shaped white plate topped with a caramelized banana, ice cream, blueberries, caramel sauce and a cherry.

For an item that is literally always on my kitchen counter, I actually don’t have a ton of recipes on this blog for bananas! There’s a banana breakfast smoothie and chocolate covered bananas, but I think it’s time to give bananas a little more love around here.

It’s hard to think of bananas without a banana split coming to mind. Truthfully, I’ve never enjoyed traditional banana splits, because I’ve never loved eating just plain, uncooked banana.

I love the flavor of bananas, but prefer them baked into something like mango banana bread, or cooked, like in bananas foster. Give me caramelized bananas over plain ones any day!

So, this caramelized banana split recipe with Hudsonville Ice Cream’s Limited Edition Blueberry Graham Delight is my idea of a perfect summer treat.

It’s Smoked Salmon Crostini, with a twist. Avocado, cream cheese, cucumber and sesame seeds make this crostini taste just like a Philadelphia sushi roll!

Earlier on in this whole 2020 “experience,” I was really craving the two things that weren’t available for carry-out or curbside pickup: Lebanese food, and sushi.

My favorite restaurants for each of those things were closed, and others in the area simply don’t compare.

But if 2020 has proved anything, it’s that we can be resourceful. My homemade kafta recipe stood in for Lebanese takeout, and the sushi craving was momentarily quelled by this little snack (although I often had several for a light lunch).

While I spent one day of culinary school learning to roll sushi rolls, let’s just say I don’t really have enough training to want to go down that path at home.

So, I swapped the rice for crostini, but my stomach said I still did justice to the flavors I was craving.
