This is the best stuffing recipe, very likely the same one your grandma used to make. Made with milk, turkey stock, onions, celery and herbs, this family recipe is the quintessential side dish for Thanksgiving.

Overhead Thanksgiving tablescape with stuffing, turkey, cranberry sauce, green beans and gravy.

This is the BEST Stuffing Recipe

You know how you hear about people taking recipes to their grave? My husband’s grandma seriously did that with her Thanksgiving bread stuffing.

It was the best turkey stuffing in the whole wide world, and I consider myself a stuffing aficionado. It had a simple, comforting flavor and was toasted to perfection.

Try as we might, we never got Mary Ellen to give up the recipe for her turkey stuffing. The only detail she ever gave us was “well, I just soak the bread in milk, really.”

A couple of their wedding day, sitting in a row with an older woman who appears to be a grandmother.

So, ever since Mary Ellen passed, it’s been my mission to try to recreate this recipe. Using some flavor memories based on what Jeff and I can recall about Grandma’s stuffing, I first published my best educated guess of how this stuffing was created back in 2014.

Using reader comments and e-mails ever since, I’ve made revisions to the recipe to keep getting it closer and closer to the original.

The recipe card below reflects nine years of work, and at least a dozen tests. At this point, I think I’m a close as I can get to honoring the flavors of Mary Ellen’s stuffing.

The recipe in the card below will yield you a delicious old fashioned bread stuffing to serve alongside your Thanksgiving turkey, I guarantee it.

“I ran across your Grandma Mary Ellen’s stuffing recipe last year and what a hit it was!! Thank you!! I too have been searching for a recipe similar to my Grandmother’s and your recipe is spot on!”

—Mary

What is stuffing?

Stuffing, also known as dressing, is a quintessential part of holiday feasts, specially where turkey is served. It’s a mixture of cubed bread, vegetables, and seasonings, and it produces a very comforting blend of flavors and textures.

Technically, it’s called “stuffing” when it gets stuffed into the bird, and “dressing” when its cooked in a separate baking dish.

But, since you tend to have to overcook the turkey to make sure the stuffing reaches a safe temperature, we just cook ours in a baking dish, but we’ve always still called it stuffing.

Why you will love Grandma’s Old Fashioned Dressing

  • This is a treasured family recipe that is very similar to what many people in the Midwest grew up eating at their own grandma’s table.
  • There’s an option to use those giblets that come with your turkey, for extra flavor – or not.
  • Make this a day or two before the holiday and bake it before dinner. I do this every year!

Indulge in the ultimate Turkey Burger experience by seasoning your ground turkey with four simple ingredients. These juicy burgers will satisfy your cravings!

Whole and halved turkey burgers arranged on their sides in a red and white baking pan on top of thick cut fries.

This is the Best Turkey Burger Recipe!

A great turkey burger has been one of my most requested recipes, and after experimenting and perfecting this recipe for YEARS, I’m finally ready to publish it. It’s perfect!

Ground turkey can often be seen as a bland, boring, sometimes dry alternative to ground beef, that only super healthy eaters love.

Yes and no. If you simply make patties out of plain ground turkey and don’t season it, your burgers WILL be bland and dry.

But we’re not gonna do that. We’re going to add four simple ingredients that make these turkey burgers juicy and flavorful.

Why you will love this Turkey Burger

  • Can be customized with a variety of toppings, or even made into a salad or bowl.
  • From fridge to plate, these burgers can be ready in about 20 minutes.
  • An alternative to beef that doesn’t skimp on flavor.

These Ham and Turkey Sliders turn deli lunchmeat into something special with the addition of caramelized onions and arugula. Watch them disappear on game day!

Pretzel bun sliders made with turkey, ham, arugula, mustard and caramelized onions on a slate platter.

I think it’s funny how sliders have become one of the most popular tailgating and game day foods. Nothing like watching huge men tackle each other while eating tiny little sandwiches, right?

I guess it makes sense, though, because you can be eating a slider in one hand while you have a foam finger on the other hand?

But I think the best thing about sliders is that you can enjoy a few bites of a delicious sandwich, but it doesn’t have to be your entire meal. You won’t be so full that you can’t also enjoy some of the football charcuterie board and healthy buffalo chicken dip.

These Ham and Turkey Sliders with honey caramelized onions are perfect for game day or when you have leftover maple bourbon turkey or pineapple ham that you want to use up! I also love them served alongside soup, like my Irish colcannon soup.

Cajun Turkey has just the right amount of heat without being overwhelmingly hot. It also has a FAST cooking method, taking just 2 hours or so!

Cajun Turkey Recipe

If you’ve ever had a Thanksgiving turkey that was dry and flavorless, it’s only natural that turkey might now be your least favorite thing on your plate for this holiday.

But it doesn’t have to be this way, and this Cajun Turkey Recipe is here to save the day.

Using an easy homemade Cajun turkey rub, we’ll be seasoning the bird to perfection, cooking it FAST in a hot oven so it stays super juicy, and making the most flavorful gravy from the drippings.

Why you’ll love this Cajun Turkey Seasoning

  • This rub has a customizable spice level. If your crowd prefers a more mild turkey, simple scale back or omit the cayenne pepper.
  • Make a double batch, because the rub is versatile enough to elevate any poultry dish, any time of the year. Add a kick to chicken breasts!
  • The cooking method is FAST. No need to dedicate 4 hours to roasting your turkey – it’ll be done in 2 hours or so.

This Roasted Turkey with Maple Bourbon Glaze is so simple yet so beautiful! It’s perfect for all home chefs, from Thanksgiving novices to seasoned pros.

Large platter filled with a roasted turkey with maple bourbon glaze, cut up into pieces. Platter is garnished with fruits and herbs.

If you’re the cook for Thanksgiving dinner, what is your favorite part of the preparation – the turkey (or perhaps the baked ham with pineapple sauce), the sides, or dessert?

While I’m pretty useless when it comes to dessert except for the occasional cranberry curd pie, it’s such a tough call between the other two for me.

I love the sides because you can get really creative and have a lot of variety, everything from classics like classic stuffing recipe to something kind of oddball like my crock pot green bean casserole recipe or Thanksgiving rice or chorizo stuffing.

But I also really dig the simplicity of roasting a turkey, carving it, and putting together a beautiful turkey platter for presentation, complete with my favorite turkey glaze recipe.

Today, I’m going to share the method I use for the best roasted turkey, the maple bourbon glaze I brush it with for extra flavor, and tips to make the most gorgeous turkey platter of your life.

Not sure what to do with leftover cornbread? This Cornbread Breakfast Casserole recipe is a hearty egg bake with sausage, cornbread and black beans. It’s easy to make ahead for a brunch gathering.

A square piece of sausage cornbread casserole on a small white plate.

As a family of three, we almost always have leftovers.

Leftover dinner, leftover baked goods, leftover ingredients. Since almost all recipes everywhere (including a lot of recipes on this blog, even) are written for four to eight servings, we always have an extra helping for that fourth person that isn’t at our table.

And honestly, we love it. We love being a family of three, happily eating our leftovers. It makes lunch the next day (at least for one of us) an autopilot meal, like microwaving the last slice of vegetarian quiche. Sometimes it means we can have mashed potato cakes with our weekend brunch.

With some meals, like a breakfast charcuterie board or cottage cheese breakfast bowls, it’s super easy to just adapt the quantities to what we need.

But with things like baked goods, it gets a little trickier. A batch of cornbread meant for two people won’t quite be enough for the three of us, but with a bigger recipe, we’re left with extra. Or sometimes we have extra after making chorizo stuffing.

Leftover cornbread, just on it’s own, is not my favorite. So today, I’m sharing the leftover cornbread breakfast casserole I’ve created to repurpose it into something new and delicious.

Looking for a ground turkey salad? This turkey burger salad with creamy sun dried tomato dressing is for you. It’s a deluxe bunless burger in a bowl!

Large platter filled with lettuce, small turkey patties, avocado, croutons, feta cheese, tomatoes and a creamy dressing.

If you’re like me, you’re trying to plan a healthful cottage cheese breakfast, a light shrimp wonton soup for lunch, and work some afternoon exercise into your busy schedule.

But also, not beating yourself up and not expecting perfection. Right? Let’s work on making good choices at dinner, too, but still have fun with it.

Ground turkey has always been a meal planning staple for me, dating back to college. I used to make Asian sloppy joes and cheeseburger pizza using turkey, for myself and my roommates.

It’s a simple way to create a healthful meal, any day of the week. This turkey burger salad bowl with sun dried tomato dressing will hopefully fit right into your “realistic healthy” goals.

This Leftover Turkey Chili recipe lets you use up almost all of your Thanksgiving leftovers in one bowl! Easy turkey chili is spooned over mashed potatoes and topped with Crunchy Stuffing Bits! | foxeslovelemons.com

How do you like to enjoy your Thanksgiving recipe leftovers? On the Friday after Thanksgiving, I like to warm up a plate of the full turkey dinner and eat it as-is.

But after that, I’m ready to repurpose the leftovers into something else, like mashed potatoes becoming mashed potato cakes topped with my easy gravy recipe, and some of the turkey becoming turkey and ham sliders.

The Michigan-Ohio State football game always seems to fall on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. So, serving a big pot of chili on that day works out really well for my family. I’ve already served my apple cider chili earlier this fall.

So, what could be more perfect for a football game on the Saturday after Thanksgiving than Leftover Turkey Chili?
