Make Turkey Meatballs in Air Fryer for a quick dinner!

If you’ve ever been disappointed with turkey meatballs, this is the recipe that will change your mind about them.

I know this because I have a friend who texts me at the start of every summer, asking how to make a turkey burger that isn’t dry. Every year, I tell him “you have to add fat and moisture.” It’s the same for turkey meatballs.

I know that the whole reason many people eat ground turkey instead of beef is because turkey has less fat and saturated fat. I get that, I do. But you simply can’t use super lean ground turkey and no additional fat or moisture, and then wonder why your burger or meatball is dry.

So, I like to think of it in terms of adding GOOD fat. Instead of relying on the saturated fat that beef would contain, I’m using 85% lean ground turkey, and adding good fat like olive oil, and moisture from Greek yogurt.

Not only does the yogurt add moisture to the meatball mixture, but the enzymes in the dairy help tenderize the turkey, which makes it more . . . tender . . . to eat.

My friend reports back that his turkey burgers are improved, and I’m confident you’ll feel the same way about your turkey meatballs, too.

Why you will love Air Fryer Turkey Meatballs

  • A healthier option for meatballs. Enjoy the savory goodness of meatballs, with less cholesterol than beef or pork.
  • Versatility. Serve them as an appetizer, on top of pasta, in a sandwich, or in a grain or rice bowl.
  • Perfectly cooked. The air fryer gives you meatballs with a crispy exterior while keeping the insides juicy.

This Shawarma Chicken is a Detroit classic!

I’ve introduced you to many classic Detroit foods, including Detroit style pizza and corned beef egg rolls. And thanks to a large Middle Eastern population, Detroit is also famous for our chicken shawarma!

It’s sold everywhere from ballparks to gas stations, with my favorite being from a restaurant called Bucharest Grill. Today, I am sharing my homemade version of this irresistible wrap sandwich.

While it may look like a long list of ingredients, it’s very fast to put together. In fact, you can make the chicken shawarma marinade and the sauce for the wraps at the same time. I’ll also offer shortcut ideas to make it even easier for a busy weeknight.

Why you will love this Chicken Shawarma Recipe

  • A burst of flavor in every bite. The spiced chicken, creamy sauce and tangy pickles come together to make magic.
  • Great as a meal prep recipe. The chicken can be cooked and the sauce can be made in advance, then just assemble the wraps when you’re ready to eat.
  • Made with lots of gut-healthy Greek yogurt. Get those probiotics in in the tastiest way possible!

Little known fact about me: I don’t really like pizza that much. I know, it’s as un-American as it gets. But it’s not entirely true.

You see, it’s fine, but I would just never choose pizza, when I have my choice of restaurant or takeout meals (or even the option to make a super fast meal at home, like turkey meatballs recipe air fryer or salmon pesto pasta).

So many American families default to pizza as the easiest option at the end of a very long, busy day, but we hardly ever do. My long suffering husband never gets his fill of takeout pizza (although I will make him a crostini pizza bar once in awhile).

But don’t feel bad for him. Because I do love HOMEMADE pizza, especially with flavor combinations that go beyond the typical cheese and pepperoni.

This Gyro Pizza is the type of pizza that I’m happy to eat, and share with you!

This Easy Kafta Recipe turns a classic Lebanese dish into a simple weeknight meal. This recipe uses ground beef, doesn’t make you mess around with skewers, and can be served two different ways – as a sandwich or in a bowl!

Large bowl filled with rice, kafta, yogurt sauce, hummus and chopped vegetables.

If you’ve seen the term “kafta” on a Lebanese restaurant menu and have been unsure of what it might be, this post is for you!

To quickly explain, kofta is a mixture of ground beef or lamb, mixed with onion and spices, formed into a patty, log or meatball and then grilled.

Even if this is your first time hearing this term, I’m here to convince you that this dish is a great make-at-home weeknight dinner with huge flavor!

It can be made with your choice of ground meat, it comes together in about 30 minutes, and you can serve it sandwich- or bowl-style.

This beef kafta recipe is easier than many others you might find, because it doesn’t make you mess around with shaping the meat onto skewers. It’s not really necessary, trust me.

Why you’ll love this Beef Kafta Recipe

  • Two different ways to serve! Each family member can create their own meal, or, serve it one way this week and the other way next week!
  • Both the meat mixture and the yogurt sauce can be made the night before, making these even faster for a weeknight.
  • Sub ground lamb, chicken or turkey for the beef if you prefer!

This is the restaurant that turned me from a fresh mint hater into somebody who craves fresh mintin the form of their mouthwatering tabbouleh.

Buffalo Falafel Subs - Fried chickepea fritters are tossed in buffalo sauce then piled into subs with buffalo-flavored hummus, lettuce, tomato and blue cheese! | foxeslovelemons.com

When you think about going to a baseball game and the food you might eat that day, you probably think of hot dogs, peanuts or nachos.

You probably don’t think of falafel (a Middle Eastern fritter made from chickpeas), but you guys know I love a mashup (see also: gyro pizza), so baseball and falafel have become intertwined!

You see, right near the stadium where the Detroit Tigers play is a bar/restaurant that serves amazing falafel pita sandwiches.

They also have chicken shawarma, but I prefer falafel because they’re a little lighter than the shawarma.

They don’t weigh me down quite as much, and leave me with plenty of room to get a big ol’ ice cold beer at the ballpark.

Chicken Shawarma Seven Layer Dip - A crowd-pleasing Middle Eastern-inspired layered dip! | foxeslovelemons.com

Welcome to Foxes Love Lemons’ WEEK OF DIPS! I’m bringing you all sorts of dippin’ goodness so you can find a recipe your party crowd will love for the big game!

If you come to metro Detroit for the first time, what’s the one thing you have to eat or drink? Answers will vary, from coney hot dogs to Faygo Red Pop to apple cider from our area’s many cider mills. If you ask me, I would tell you that you must have a chicken shawarma. Shawarma is very similar to gyros in preparation – the meat is marinated and roasted on a spit, or grilled. It is then served as a platter, or stuffed in soft pita bread slathered with garlic sauce.
