When most people stare down a bunch of bags of pancake mix, they probably picture light and fluffy pancakes dripping with syrup. I have a friend who has told me that it’s one of his life goals to be served a stack of pancakes as tall as his face. You know, like you see in cartoons. And I’m going to make that happen for him eventually.

I think it’s safe to say that an everything bagel would be included in my last meal. Unwilling to eat the equivalent of five slices of bread (or whatever people say a bagel amounts to) all that often, I’ve taken to flavoring other, healthier things with everything seasoning. I’ve done the infamous Everything English Muffin. I’ve used everything-flavored crackers to crust salmon. I’ve sprinkled everything seasoning mix on cottage cheese, salads and eggs. (more…)

Recipe: Giada De Laurentiis’ Couscous-Stuffed Peppers with Basil Sauce (click to be taken to the full recipe)

Background: Look, I admit that Giada can be a bit annoying. That random Italian accent that comes out only when it wants to. The twiggy body that is evidence she doesn’t eat much of the food she cooks for her television shows. But you know what? Most of her recipes are really great. I even have one of her cookbooks. I saw her cook these stuffed peppers one Sunday morning, and I immediately went to the grocery store to get all of the fixings so I could make it for dinner that night. I’ve made it countless times since then, and passed the recipe on to my parents, who also love it.
