I’ve only been drinking Bloody Marys for ten years or less, but I already have strong opinions on the best part: the garnishes.

When a lot of trendy brunch food spots have gone all in and garnished their drinks with crazy things like chicken tenders or slices of pizza or whatever in recent years, their only goal has been to go viral on TikTok or Instagram.

I’m not here to go viral. I’m here to make Bloody Mary skewers that taste great while I’m nibbling on my vegetarian quiche and blackberry muffin.

As I’ll explain in the post below, the best Bloody Mary garnish skewers are a simple combination of three flavors that our taste buds love.

You can get all of the ingredients needed for these Bloody Mary toppings at your local grocery store. And nobody here will ask you to stick an entire fried chicken on top of your drink. My only request is that you use everything bagel seasoning as bloody mary rim salt. Deal?

Did you know National Hummus Day is this coming Saturday? While you’ll almost always find a tub of hummus in my fridge (24/7/365), I figured this is a day to celebrate my love of hummus a little harder than usual.

I took the opportunity to not only celebrate hummus, but some of my favorite seasonal ingredients (and a few fun goodies), as well.

Have you tried cooking with endive at home? It’s a leafy green that, believe it or not, belongs to the daisy family. I see it occasionally in restaurants, but don’t often see home cooks using it. Belgian endive can be found in most larger grocery stores. It kind of looks like a very small, very tight, white and yellow head of Romaine lettuce. While it can certainly be chopped up to add a bitter accent to a mixed green salad, the boat shape of the leaves practically screams “throw a party!” and “fill me with something fun and colorful!”

When I go grocery shopping, I have three goals in mind: 1.) Buy lots of whole, minimally processed foods, 2.) Buy as many made-in-the-U.S. (preferably Michigan!) products as I can, and 3.) Get in and out of there as fast as humanly possible. Let’s be honest – Goal #3 is the one that keeps me sane, but it’s totally possible to also meet Goals #1 and #2 if I know what to look for.
